History
Alan McMillan received a master's degree from UBC in 1969, where he studied with Charles E. Borden. Thereafter, he founded and later chaired the Anthropology and Sociology Department at Douglas College. In 1980, he joined the faculty of Simon Fraser University, becoming Adjunct Professer in 1989. In 1996, he received a PhD from SFU for a dissertation on the archaeology and ethnography of the Nuu-chah-nulth First Nation, which was published as a book in 1999.
