Scope and content

This file consists of artifact lists, artifact catalogues, notes, and combined artifact photographs, all pertaining to the transfer of LOA artifacts to various individuals in East Asia, in exchange for receiving the Professor Serizawa Collection.

From database searching of artifact numbers and contextual clues in Series 3 (Correspondence), the following can be determined: artifacts 1-61 in the provided artifact lists were shipped out of LOA and no longer show up in Filemaker, presumably going to Professor Serizawa as indicated in correspondence. Artifacts 86-107 and 124-125 were, according to correspondence from 1976, intended to be received by a Professor Teruya (first name illegible), but a later artifact list from 1986 shows that instead they were sent to a Wei Zhengyi at the Heilongjiang Provincial Museum in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, in northeast China. These artifact numbers no longer appear in Filemaker as well. Another set of artifacts among the photographs in this file were intended to go to an unspecified location in Mitoyo, Japan, but it seems this exchange did not occur. The artifacts records remain in Filemaker. No other information regarding these exchanges have been found in LOA.
