Custodial history
Artifacts and documentary material related to this project were transferred from ARCAS to the Lab of Archaeology in October of 1989 and have remained under LOAs custody since it’s transfer. In 2011, the collection was re-housed in the current LOA archives location (room 221A at MOA) and arranged and described in a way that reflected how Charles Borden kept and maintained his archaeological records. This practice, as a way of filing for Borden, continued to be used by LOA in the post-Borden era (1978-present).
Scope and content
This fonds consists of textual records, graphic material, and cartographic material related to archaeological excavations and construction monitoring carried out at DhRs-1 (c̓əsnaʔəm) in Vancouver, British Columbia under permit 1988-0078 by ARCAS Associates. Textual records include artifact and sample catalogues, box inventories, field notes, level forms, artifact and matrix analyses, photo logs, a final permit report, a faunal analysis report, correspondence, radiocarbon dating analyses, and a permit application. Graphic and cartographic material includes excavation, monitoring, and artifact photographs; profile drawings; and archaeological site maps.
The fonds has been arranged into six series in 1 box:
Series 1 – Artifact Catalogues, Series 2 – Field Notes, Series 3 – Drawings, Series 4 – Photographs, Series 5 – Reports and Series 6 – Administrative Files.

Arrangement
In 2022, the fonds was re-described and partially rearranged in order to incorporate previously undescribed material (reports and correspondence). The rearrangement continues to generally follow the method that was used by Charles Borden and LOAA to arrange fonds. Previously, material was arranged in 6 series: 1. Field Notes, 2. Miscellaneous and artifact catalogue, 3. Profile Drawings, 4. Photographs, 5. Level Sheets, and 6. Matrix inventory. Series 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, consisted of one file, series 3 consisted of 3 files: 1. Artifact Catalogue, 2. Sample proveniences, and 3. Feature list.
