Biographical history

Michael Blake joined the UBC Department of Archaeology in 1986, and remained on faculty until his retirement in July 2020. Dr. Blake's research focusses on two primary areas: the origins and history of maize cultivation in the Americas, and the archaeology of communities around the Salish Sea. He has focussed particularly on sites associated with the Stó:lō peoples, especially the Sq'éwlets.
