Scope and content

File consists of a bound field notebook with 24 printed Land Utilization Survey map sheets loosely inserted or pasted within the pages. Some of the maps are annotated with archaeological site locations and Borden grid lines. Maps depict the following locations: Fraser Lake, Nechako River, Tachick Lake, Nulki Lake, Stoney Creek, Sinkut Lake, Francois Lake, Burns Lake, Ootsa Lake, Chelaslie River, Chelaslie Lake, Tetachuk Lake, Eutsuk Lake, Whitesail Lake, Sinclair Lake, Cluculz Lake, Chilako River, Stuart River, Eulatazella Lake, Edfisher Lake, Little Bobtail Lake, Big Bobtail Lake, McGregor River, Fraser River, Bowron River, Willow River, Techentlo Lake, Chuchi Lake, Stuart Lake, Stuart River, Sutherland River, McLoed Lake, and Parsnip River. Two aerial photographs of the Nechako River, Stuart River, and Chunlac [Chinlac] Village are loosely inserted into the notebook on page 36.
In the front pocket of the notebook is a legend describing several types of annotations made on the maps, three pieces of birch bark, a printed map of the Nechako River, drawings of pottery sherds, a hand-drawn map of Fraser Lake, and descriptions of stone tool manufacture techniques.
The last pages of the notebook include a stapled list of Sewell's identified sites and corresponding Borden codes, as well as descriptions of different types of end scrapers. These pages are associated with a scrap piece of paper dated to 1954, which is after Sewell's death. It is possible that these extra sheets at the end of the notebook were created and added to this record by Charles Borden or one of his students. See file LoAA33-B4-S5-1-F36 for related materials.
