Biographical history

Robert Stuart Kidd earned his B.A. at the University of British Columbia, where he met Dr. Charles Borden. Kidd went on to complete an M.A. in archaeology from the University of Washington. After completing his studies, Kidd took a position as Curator of Archaeology at the Provincial Museum of Alberta.

Scope and content

This fonds contains correspondence, a daily journal, survey forms, artifact logs, maps, notes, photograph logs and related material from Robert S. Kidd's survey, conducted in the summer of 1963, of the Lower Fraser. The survey was jointly funded by the University of British Columbia and the National Museum. Kidd was assisted in his efforts by Derek Smith, an archaeology student at UBC. The Lower Fraser Survey 1963 fonds consists of eight series: survey forms, artifact catalogue and drawings, photograph records, notes, correspondence, maps, background material, and photographs.
