Bereik en inhoud

This file consists of photographs documenting pottery sherds J1-J:35 in the collection, which for the most part exist in duplicate for each sherd. One set had its photographs pasted into a stapled booklet, with artifact numbers written on the pages beside them. The other set was in an envelope from the Arts and Letters faculty at Tohoku University, addressed to Professor Richard Pearson and has artifact numbers directly written onto the photographs for each sherd. Some information like artifact function is written on these photographs as well, but this is not always consistent. This information is not translated into English.

In addition, there is a set of loose paper cards accompanying the photos, with each one corresponding to a set of sherds. These cards function as labels for the sherds and provide brief information in both Japanese and English such as pottery type, time period, and some type of note on its location of discovery (level of detail varies).

Sherds J1:3, J1:14, J1:18, J1:24, J1:26, and J1:29 do not have versions of photographs with artifact numbers directly written on them. As well, J1:20 does not have a label card (a note written later and stored with the photographs marks down some incomplete details).
