AMEC is an engineering, project management and consultancy company.

In 1982 Fairclough Construction merged with William Press (founded in 1913) to form AMEC plc. Six years later the Matthew Hall Group of Companies was incorporated into the AMEC Group.

In Canada, AMEC's roots date back to more than 100 years ago. In 1907 the Montreal Engineering Company was incorporated, and was in business for over 85 years before being acquired by AGRA in 1992. AMEC then bought this business in 2000.
In 2023 WSP Canada Inc. acquired Wood E&I (Previously Arcas Consulting Archaeologists, AMEC, Amec Foster Wheeler.

Documentary material related to this project was transferred from WSP to the Lab of Archaeology on 28 January 2026, and have remained under LOA’s custody since its transfer.

Scope and content

This fonds consists of textual records and graphic material related to the Archaeological Impact Assessment (AIA) during the Port Mann Highway 1 project conducted under HCA permit 2009-0049 by AMEC Foster Wheeler, now acquired by WSP that took place between 2009 and 2015 on behalf of Hatfield Consultants Ltd., Transportation Investment Corporation and Kiewit-Flatiron General Partnership.
Sites within the project area include: DhRr-30, DhRq-19, DhRq-34, DhRq-80, DhRq-81 and DhRr-255. Cultural heritage permits were also obtained from Kwantlen First Nation Heritage Investigation Permit 2009-026, Stó:lō Nation Heritage Investigation Permit #2009-17, and Tsleil-Waututh Nation Permit #2009-003.
Textual records include: Artifact catalogues, site forms, permits, final report and administrative records. Graphic material includes: photographs.
This project was deposited to LOA in digital format along with a physical copy of the final report and 1 CD.
