Two belongings (artifacts), and documentary materials related to the project were transferred from Peter Merchant Consulting and Don Welsh sometime after the project concluded and have remained under LOA’s custody since it’s transfer. In 2011, the collection was re-housed in the current LOA Archives location (room 221A at MOA).

This fonds consists of material related to an archaeological monitoring project carried out by Don Welsh on behalf of the Semiahmoo First Nation and Peter Merchant Consulting on behalf of the property owner in 2001. The property is located at [address withheld] in the community of Crescent Beach in Surrey BC. The property falls within the registered site boundaries of the DgRr-1 Crescent Beach site. An HCA permit was not issued due to some miscommunications, but all Nations who claim territory at this site gave their support for the project, and work was done as indicated in the permit application. Textual records in this project fonds include, field notes, artifact catalogue, administration files, and a final report.

This project did not have a permit number, and it was filed by the Archaeology Branch file number: 21100-02/01 A266 (filed under file/application).

Photographs from this project were not part of the initial deposit, but were suggested after by Don Welsh. Three photographs were submitted by Peter Merchant on January 28, 2003 from the project, with descriptions written on the back of each photograph. The photographs were temporarily removed on February 18, 2003, and given to Don Welsh to make copies. All three photographs are missing from the rest of the project material and have not been located as of the creation of this finding aid (September 20, 2024).
